Innovation, Integration, Implementation

INNOVATION is a hallmark at SIA. As we explore ways to solve your material handling needs, we look beyond the traditional and embrace the truly innovative. This may be as simple as making modest revisions to your methods and procedures, installing proven conveyor and storage equipment, enhancing your facility’s layout, or suggesting minor changes in your information processing. Or it may be as complex as developing customized equipment and computer systems for a fully automated solution. Regardless of the degree of complexity required, SIA brings innovation to bear when developing material handling solutions for you.

INTEGRATION is the physical and electronic linking of all your system components to significantly improve efficiencies, productivity and communication. Successful system integration ensures that no single element is designed or installed as an isolated sub-system. SIA’s commitment to system integration also stresses the importance of developing organizational structures and operating procedures that link your logistics system with your total business system.

IMPLEMENTATION is the systematic and sequential process that transforms our innovative ideas into an integrated, functioning reality that yields positive results for you. As SIA implements the material handling solutions specifically geared to your needs, we assume full responsibility for all tasks involved, including equipment and software specification, acquisition, installation, testing, training and start-up.

flexible contracting options

Firm Price - A common approach to contracting material handling projects has been for the client to either work with a consultant or utilize in-house resources to develop a specification that multiple vendors can competitively quote. Often times this method relies on the expertise of these vendors as demonstrated through the bidding process. The end result can be positive if the client has the resources, expertise, scope definition and time to navigate through this process. Solutions In Action recognizes the merits of this approach and is routinely awarded contracts on this basis.

Design/Build Consulting - Many companies who are eager to solve their material handling challenges may find that they lack resources, a clearly defined scope of work, and sufficient time to manage the project. For these clients, Solutions in Action encourages the “partnership” arrangement of a design-build agreement, which typically results in a solution that relies more on client input and our analysis of their specific business needs.

In a design-build agreement, SIA utilizes the three-part approach of innovation, integration and implementation.

First, our consultants engage in an active dialogue with the client through a comprehensive pre-engineering study of the client’s business, which allows us to collect accurate operational data and to analyze material flow. Armed with this information, we then develop innovative, appropriate concepts and generate preliminary cost estimates.

Second, SIA prepares integrated, cost-effective, detailed design plans, including specific sequence of operations, mechanical layout, control schematics and firm cost estimates.

Third, we manage the multiple steps of implementation, including releasing orders to the appropriate manufacturers, fabricating control panels, developing programs, shipping, assembling, erecting, wiring, commissioning, and training.

Ultimately, a design-build agreement helps reduce the cost of implementation and shorten the time period from initial concept to turn-over of an operational system.
